WANT Les Essentials de la Vie

Back in March my Mom and I decided that it would be fun to explore Smith Street in Brooklyn for the day. On a quick side note, most of the stores in Brooklyn do not open until after 12pm, we learned the hard way! We stopped into a beautiful boutique with exposed brick and unique selections called Bird where I discovered the brand WANT Les Essentials de la Vie. The brand is based out of Montreal and was founded in 2006 by three men who wanted to provide discreet travel items with basic and elegant shapes.

I immediately loved their signature "O'Hare tote" which comes in all canvas, all leather, embroidered {pictured above} as well other color/fabric combinations. In addition to having tons of pockets on the inside and a zipper, the tote also had a cross body strap and handles for easy carrying. All of the bags I saw were classic and timeless with a modern twist. 

I decided to go with the embroidered O'Hare in tan which is a bit more casual and perfect for the weekends. Their all leather totes are dressier and great option for a work bag. In addition to tote bags, the brand also offers luggage and a number of accessories in a variety of colors. I highly recommend checking out their website for the spring collection as well as the store Bird in Brooklyn!

looks for less: valentino

I love the Valentino studded totes, especially the one pictured above, but I am not loving the price tag that comes along with it. Over the weekend I was shopping around the city and stopped into Forever 21 after spotting the same look for much less.

The two totes look extremely alike and I was shocked that the Forever 21 studded tote was only $29.80. Although the quality and longevity of the bag is clearly not the same, you get a similar style without breaking the bank.
