The time is finally here, it's green garlic season!! Yesterday I stopped by Whole Foods and was delighted to find the seasonal plant while perusing the vegetable section. For those of you who are not familiar with green garlic, it is simply the premature garlic plant. Bulb garlic is harvested in the summer once the plant fully develops so these next few months are prime green garlic season. Last year I posted about how to spot green garlic in my "Green Garlic: A Seasonal Treat" post, but that was at the end of the season and hard to find. This year I am starting early! I highly recommend cooking with green garlic since you get the garlic taste, but it is much more refined and mild.

I had never even heard of green garlic! I'll have to pick some up next time I'm at the grocery store.
